Kylie Jenner may have dabbled with hints of her 2015 King Kylie era in 2024, showing up in vibrant teal and pink wigs reminiscent of her younger days. But fans hoping for a full return of her bold teenage aesthetic might be disappointed. In her recent ELLE cover story, Kylie opened up about her evolution in style and why certain aspects of her former look belong firmly in the past.
Reflecting on her playful September throwback to teal hair, Kylie shared, “I had a free day, so my glam team and I decided to have a little fun.” Though the King Kylie era is a cherished part of her journey, she explained, “It’ll never be what it was when I was younger. I probably would never wear lash extensions and thick eyebrows again. There are just certain trends that I’ve grown out of.”
Instead, Kylie is embracing a different side to her style—what she calls a “dark feminine” aesthetic. “I think I’m actually going in the opposite direction of ‘quiet luxury,’” she revealed. “Though I’ve had moments of it, I’m always experimenting. At the root of my authentic style, I think I’m more dark feminine.”
Kylie’s journey shows that personal style, much like life, evolves. As she continues to redefine her look, the King Kylie era remains a meaningful chapter—just not one she’s interested in rewriting.
